The opening speech read by our Group:
a cordial greeting to the political authorities, religious and all you who are here to share an important and significant moment for the Archaeological Group of Ghedi. Several years have passed since he began to take shape the idea of rehabilitation of this building, but even if they are past 13 years, we have come to conclude this house, giving small but important that we are truly proud of.
Thinking about the history of this building and our group, the memory goes to those employees who today are no more but a lot have given: we turn to Piero Lussignoli and Gino Bode who is a loving thought.
necessary, before cutting the ribbon, you have a short memory of the route that had the arrangement of this house and its history.
was 1997 when this small building was in considerable state of disrepair and had to be demolished as part of a restoration project which covered the private property surrounding buildings. On the recommendation of the Archaeological Group of Ghedi, the then administration Scalvenzi, in the person Tarcisio Lanfredi councilor for urban planning, decided to acquire the property under the agreement with the private operator.
The Administration itself, and the next Administration Guarneri entered into an agreement with the Archaeological Group for the recovery of the building. With contributions from the municipality, according to the Superintendents concerned, the Group began the first archaeological surveys required, measurements and stratigraphic studies of the elevations and then began a complete restoration of the building. We stress the peculiarity of an investigation that has linked in a scientific archaeological excavations and architectural structures.
The work has yielded unexpected results on the consistency of the archaeological deposit, offering an overview of time ranging roughly from the seventh to the seventeenth century. Almost 1000 years of history which is a fairly rare element when referring a rural setting away from major urban centers. Curious and exciting was the discovery of a small dice game in a medieval ivory, hence the idea of naming the building "the House of Nut."
These interventions have the ability to return to the City of Ghedi a significant piece of its history. We hope that the citizens and future generations can appreciate and value this testimony, and that it may be an example for the protection and enhancement of the contexts of historical value on our territory - far more numerous than you might think - but also a starting point for other similar initiatives and the construction of the Museum of City.
technical investigations concluded, given the interest of the materials, it was decided to perform a scientific study of the same and based on these results, we have decided to propose an exhibition of Archaeological artefacts found. After the approval of the same we proceeded with the project and the exhibition was realized with the support of the Pro site, with the assistance of the CCB and the current Administration dell'Agrobresciano Borzi and thank everyone for giving us this important opportunity.
We also thank all the craftsmen and companies that have collaborated in the restoration and construction of the exhibition and all those who in various ways have contributed to arrive at what is now going to inaugurate. In
thank you all for your participation today, we hope that the recovery of this little piece of history and culture of our city can really be considered a beginning and an example to follow.
